Fr Thomas Keating

“When you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 — This scripture, read by Fr. Thomas Keating, is the opening words of John and I’s album Inner Room. Additionally, this scripture became the rallying cry of the Desert Fathers in the third and fourth centuries who further developed the practice of “pure prayer”. Centering Prayer is named for its ability to circumvent thought leading to rest directly in the presence of God and is most popularized by Fr. Keating.

I count myself blessed to call Fr. Keating my friend and he is certainly a major spiritual guide for my continuing growth. I have had the honor of recording him since 1995 and through the dozens of conferences of his I’ve recorded, I’ve found my life and many, many others dramatically improved. The spiritual journey is so often fraught with suffering. Fr. Keating teaches many ways that suffering can be blessings instead.
